Dame Helen Mirren, 70, shows us how to grow old disgracefully as she sticks her tongue out in a school-inspired ensemble

Dressed in a long skirt, school tie and blazer, 70-year-old Dame Helen Mirren clearly had no intention of acting her age.

Proving old habits die hard, the Oscar winning actress posed for the camera with her tongue out and flashed a crude V-sign for good measure.

Just days after her vulgar behaviour was placed under the spotlight following a foul-mouthed anecdote on stage, the star, who became a household name after playing the Queen, revealed her less than regal side once more.

This time Dame Helen paired up with composer Lord Lloyd-Webber at the School of Rock musical opening night on Broadway on Sunday night.

Her mock school uniform had put her in a playful mood as she joined an array of celebrity guests in the audience for the first night of Lord Lloyd-Webber’s hit musical at the Winter Garden Theatre in Times Square, New York.

It was just last week that Dame Helen left an audience aghast after she told how she feared her husband might not fancy her any more after he saw her playing Her Majesty in the movie The Queen.

The expletives in her acceptance speech at an awards ceremony in New York were bad enough.

The crassness of the subject and lack of respect was almost worse.

‘I have to tell you a story about f****** the Queen,’ she told the audience.

‘When The Queen was first screened at Venice, I’d never seen it before, and neither had my husband Taylor [Hackford].

‘In the first scene I’m in full regalia, and I turn to the camera and there’s silence in the cinema.

And my husband lets out this huge laugh. So I lean over to him and say, “Darling, do you think you’ll ever f*** me again?”’

Rather excruciatingly, she added: ‘Between you and me, he has.’ Dame Helen won an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 film The Queen and has since reprised the role in the hit play The Audience, staged both in London and on Broadway.

Her eyebrow-raising speech came after Hollywood star Robert De Niro presented her with a career tribute award at the IFP Gotham Independent Film Awards in Manhattan and, in somewhat dubious taste, joked about his attraction to her.

Meanwhile, the Queen actress was quite the social butterfly at the event as she hung out with several other stars ahead of the Broadway debut including actress Sarah Paulson.

Dame Helen definitely looked friendly with the 40-year-old American Horror Story actress as they flashed smiles while posing for a photo together at the event.

Sarah was joined by Two And A Half Men star Holland Taylor at the event as there have been rampant rumours they are dating after it was recently revealed the 72-year-old actress is in a relationship with a woman.

The 12 Years A Slave actress did nothing but add fuel to the fire that night as she gushed about The Truman Show actress, calling the older woman a 'genius,' as she shared an image of a ticket to Ripcord for 2 p.m. on Instagram that afternoon
