'I was just making it up': Oscar Isaac reveals Harrison Ford's Star Wars flying advice for Poe Dameron ahead of The Force Awakens

Flying through hyperspace might be like dusting crops, after all.

Oscar Isaac has revealed the advice Harrison Ford gave to him on flying through the Star Wars universe: just make it up.

The 36-year-old, who plays X-Wing pilot Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens, told Good Morning America that his first introduction to the snubfighter was a set of extremely detailed instructions.

'I saw a blueprint on my desk, it listed every button that had ever been used in the previous six films in a X-wing, so that I knew what did what, and which ones were free for me to imagine anything,' he said. 'So it's an incredible amount of detail that goes into this universe.'

When he met the franchises most famous pilot - Captain Han Solo of the Milennium Falcon - he immediately sought his advice.

'He offered that he would take me up with him, but he did say "I was just making it up. And it's in space, so the rules don't really apply to piloting, so youve got some room to make it up".

'So I think "Oh yeah I'll make it up... but then I get a blueprint of exactly what I have to do, and I'm like wait a second!' he laughed, 'Which one is it here?'

He revealed that the first time he got behind the controls, he nearly threw up - and it wasn't from nerves.

'They take just the cockpit area and put it on a gimbal,' he described. 'And then they just move that thing around all over the place. The first time I was on it I was yelling and doing my thing and I got so sick, 'cause I was so hot and it was moving, I had to stop and say "Hang on guys... I need to swallow my lunch for a second".

The Guatemalan also revealed that he brought his uncle, a Star Wars nut, onto the set to meet the crew, and he left with a role in the biggest film of all time-to-be.

'I introduced him to JJ and JJ said "Oh youre the uncle! Wanna be in the movie?"

'He hadn't told me, I had never even mentioned it and he's like "Oh my God! Yes yes yes!"

'They put him back there in a scene between Adam [Driver, Kylo Ren] and I,' he smiled. 'And when the trailer first came out I got a little picture where he had kind of circled this blur in the back and he's like "that's me!"'

Star Wars The Force Awakens finally hits theatres on December 18.

What does this do? The Millenium Falcon made the Kessel Run in 12 parsecs, so Ford obviously had some clue what he was doing
