Customers due compensation for mis-sold card protection must act now as they have two weeks left to file claims averaging £188
Customers mis-sold card protection policies have just two weeks to claim compensation from their bank.
Seven million people targeted with these policies were sent compensation claims forms in February by their bank or credit card company. But many due money back have yet to respond.
In November 2012, the City regulator fined Card Protection Plan Limited £10.5million for the widespread mis-selling of protection policies and ordered the firm to pay compensation to customers.
Two weeks left: The amount of compensation depends on how many years the policy was paid for
Banks sold two types of CPP products to customers taking out credit, debit and store cards — card protection and identity protection.
Many customers were wrongly told they would not get the card unless they paid for the insurance policy, too.
Card protection policies cost around £30 a year and identity insurance £80.
The amount of compensation depends on how many years the policy was paid for. So far, the average compensation payment is £188.
Customers must complete and sign their form by August 30 or their claim will not be considered.
If you’ve lost it or think you should have been sent a form but haven’t, call your bank as soon as possible.
