So it seemed only appropriate Mariah Carey caused a stir in a figure-hugging dress as she headed into her Christmas concert in New York on Friday.

The Charmbracelet favourite seemed in high spirits indeed as she waved at adoring acolytes while making her way to the Beacon Theatre, where she is performing a series of festive shows.

The 45-year-old Christmas cracker looked in fine form indeed in the form-fitting maxi dress, which was emblazoned with a yellow floral design.

Mariah is adding a huge chunk to her estimated $520 million net worth performing eight dates as part of her All I Want For Christmas Is You concert series.

She debuted the festive showcase for the first time at the Beacon Theatre last year.

The mother-of-two is well known for her love of Christmas, and this year will even appear in the upcoming Hallmark film, A Christmas Melody.

Wherever Mariah goes she always looks every inch the diva popstar she is and it was no different as she headed to a concert in New York City.

The star looked as youthful as ever in figure-hugging dress that showed off her assets, slim waist and curvaceous booty. The piece was clearly by one of her favourite designers, Roberto Cavalli, a dress inspired by the fall 2015 catwalk that showcased several pieces with a yellow floral print just like Mariah's.

The songstress will both direct and star in the upcoming holiday movie, in which she plays the villain.

Mariah, 45, is playing the mean girl in this movie, in the form of Kristin's high school rival Melissa who is president of the PTA.

While Kristin, played by Mean Girl's Lacey Chabert, clashes with Mariah onscreen, in real life the pop diva was ecstatic to have the 33-year-old, as the lead of her Hallmark Christmas movie.

Mariah admitted to Entertainment Tonight that she was a huge fan of the comedic film, even sharing a pic of the duo wearing pink to commemorate the iconic quote, 'On Wednesdays we wear pink.'

'I'm obsessed with it [Mean Girls]. I was so obsessed with Mean Girls, you have no idea,' she admitted.
