During the show, the flame-haired crooner took to the stage in a replica All Blacks jersey to pay tribute to New Zealand Rugby legend Jonah Lomu, who died last month age 40.

After his first song, the popstar turned around around to pick up his second guitar, revealing the legend's number eleven etched across his back, to which the crowd immediately erupted.

He also asked the crowed for 50,00 lights during one of his songs, to which they happily obliged.

Ed performed his final Australian show in Sydney on Wednesday night and surprised fans with a special duet alongside legendary singer, Sir Elton John.

The pair took to the stage together during the second half of the concert to perform a number of hits together.

Wearing his iconic sunglasses, Elton, 68, sat comfortably behind his piano, while Ed strung his guitar and sang to a crowd of 48,000 at Allianz Stadium, Sydney

The two hitmakers did a rendition of the Grammy Hall Of Fame recipient's smash 1993 hit, Don't Go Breaking My Heart, along with multiple unreleased songs by Ed.

Dedicated fan Kate Hoare told Daily Mail Australia that the crowd 'stood up and clapped and screamed for five minutes,' when Elton first surprised them on stage.

Meanwhile, Ed's tour of Australia saw him break a number of records.

The English singer-songwriter is the only person to have performed as a solo artist in stadiums across Australia.

The sounds on stage were produced by his voice, guitar and a series of loop pedals, filling the stadium with hypnotizing layers of sound in lieu of a band.

Ed also broke a number of attendance records, setting a new high mark at AAMI Park in Melbourne with 33,323 on Saturday night (Dec. 5), only to break it again the next night with 33,595.

He eclipsed the Bruce Springsteen's previously held record of 31,847 in February 2014.

Ed, who has just been revealed to have received three Grammy Award nominations for next year's ceremony, seemed to have enjoyed his time while in Australia.

Last month, he attended the Aria awards and on Friday, thrilled fans when he took part in a 'peep show' prank for radio duo Hamish Blake and Andy Lee.

The Fox FM stars dressed up and spruiked Ed performing for punters for a measly $2, which many fans found hard to believe.

It took the funnymen two hours to find people who wanted to check out the show, but who were shocked at seeing Ed on stage.
