'Two weeks until we are a family of three!' Bristol Palin shares snap of her baby bump - photobombed by her son Tripp - as she counts down the final days to her due date

  • Bristol is expecting her second child, a girl, in about two weeks
  • The 25-year-old announced the pregnancy a month after calling off her wedding to Dakota Meyer, 27
  • She called it a 'huge disappointment' to her friends and family but later insisted that it was 'actually planned' and she 'got ahead of herself'
  • The daughter of former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has recently spoken out against birth control and abortion

Bristol Palin, who is due to give birth to her second child in about two weeks, is enjoying the final few days of her pregnancy, while making sure to document her blooming baby bump on social media.

The 25-year-old posted her latest bump pic on Instagram this week - which also features a cheeky photobomb from her six-year-old son, Tripp.

Captioning the snap, in which she wears jeans, slip-on sneakers, and a hoodie, the mom-to-be counted down the days until she, her son, and her unborn daughter 'become a family of three'.

When the Alaskan first shared her pregnancy news with the world in June, she referred to it as a 'huge disappointment' to her friends and family', but seems to have since made peace with having a second child out of wedlock.

On her personal blog, she wrote: 'I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you.

'Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up. When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher.'

The announcement was made just a month after Bristol called off her wedding with 27-year-old Afghanistan war veteran Dakota Meyer. News had recently broken that the Marine had been married once before, though Bristol has told media outlets that she had been aware of the previous relationship.

She also later insisted that this pregnancy was 'actually planned' but she 'got ahead of herself' IN getting pregnant before tying the knot.

'Things didn't go as planned, but life keeps going. I do not regret this baby. This baby is not a disappointment and I cannot wait to be a mom times two,' she added.

After Tripp was born, however, Bristol claimed publicly that she'd never have premarital sex again, and even partnered with the Candie's Foundation to promote abstinence.

She told Good Morning America: 'I’m not going to have sex until I’m married. I can guarantee it.'

Bristol gave birth to her son with high school boyfriend Levi Johnston in 2008 while her mother, Sarah Palin, was campaigning as Senator John McCain's running mate.

Though, hypocritically, she got pregnant for a second time while unmarried after repeatedly telling other women to avoid a similar fate, she has continued to preach against premarital sex as well as birth control.

On her blog in October, she called it 'crazy' that girls as young as ten are able to get birth control.

She's also still speaking out against abortion, and was particularly upset about it after a recent episode of the hit ABC show Scandal, in which Kerry Washington's character, Olivia Pope, terminates her pregnancy.

On Facebook and Twitter, she shared links to a piece written by Nancy French, a family friend, on Patheos, in which the writer calls abortions a 'heartbreaking scandal'.

'[Show creator] Shonda Rhimes and the cast of Scandal have made one thing crystal clear - they stand with Planned Parenthood instead of the millions of babies they’ve murdered,' Nancy wrote.
