Make Room For Daddy and sitcom wife of Danny Thomas, Marjorie Lord, has died aged 97.

The actress, who survives Oscar-nominated daughter Anne Archer, was found dead at her Beverly Hills home on November 28, the Los Angeles Times reports.

She passed away from natural causes, nearly six decades since her defining role in 1950s sketch show The Danny Thomas Show, which later became Make Room For Daddy.

Marjorie, born in San Francisco in 1918 and trained as a ballet dancer, starred in the ABC show from 1953 as young Irish nurse Kathy O'Hara.

She portrayed a widow with one daughter who quickly fell for titular character Danny, also a widow with one child.

In her personal life, Marjorie was married to star of White Heat, John Archer, with whom she had two children, including actress Anne.

She was married twice more to Randolph Hale in 1958 following her 1953 separation from John and then Harry Volk between 1976 and 2000.

Similar to Marjorie, Harry died at his Los Angeles home, but in 2000 at the age of 94, leaving her widowed.

They were both active philanthropists and known for their charity work.

Marjorie had one grandson and a son, Gregg Archer, four other grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Marjorie's daughter Anne followed her lead in the acting world and starred in 1987's Fatal Attraction, a role for which she was later recognized with an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress nod.

Marjorie's own passion for acting saw her fib about her age to bag a part on Broadway to take the role of an actress 10 years her senior.

In an interview quoted on her fan page, she revealed: 'I always wanted to act, and was very well prepared when I was given a role, on Broadway, in The Old Maid.

I went on tour with the show, thus we fibbed about my age, adding two years. This was so no teacher would be required.

'My mother accompanied me, and it all worked out fine. I replaced a girl who was 10 years older than me.'
