For the race, Chris, 32, was coaxed into wearing a special gimmicky Santa helmet which Jimmy pointed out was specifically chosen to embarrass the hunky star.

'We also have these very special Santa helmets because any opportunity to make a Hemsworth brother look less attractive we will take,' the 41-year-old joked about the silly costume.

A Ghost of Hemsworth past also further embarrassed the star, as a photo showing him as a long haired youngster was framed and held up by a gaunt looking actor as part of the obstacle challenge.

The race goer's were to head out the studio door, past Santa Claus, before navigating their way around a Christmas tree while also trying to avoid 'two punk kids' having a snowball fight.

The pair would then speed past the Ghosts of both Hemsworth and Fallon Past, which displayed embarrassing old photos of the men, before passing a group of carolers chanting: 'Go, go, go, go, go, go.'

They would then plough through a sudden blizzard, before driving the sleighs back into the studio, with the first person to cross the mistletoe finish line being awarded the champion and taking home the coveted Hemsworth Cup.

The duo began to speed through the halls bumper-to-bumper after the start bell sounded, with Chris taking an early lead.

However, the actor soon took a wrong turn which ended up ruining his chances of taking out the win.

Jimmy was victorious overall in the race, however a disappointed Chris was gracious in his defeat as he merrily high-fived his opponent.

Chris will hosts Saturday Night Live this Saturday, with musical guest Chance The Rapper.

The last time Chris hosted back in March, he and Jones got very flirty in what was her first ever set of promos.

Meanwhile it has been a busy few weeks for the actor who has been attending a slew of engagements in the lead up to his latest movie In The Heart Of The Sea's December release.

The Australian heartthrob plays Owen Chase in the Moby Dick-inspired film directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard.

His character is a sailor stranded at sea with the other crew for 90 days as they struggle to overpower the massive beast before the killer whale destructs their ship, killing many on-board.
