Lauren Silverman and her partner Simon Cowell were recently the victims of a terrifying burglary.

Yet the brunette beauty proved life must go on as she stepped out in New York looking sensational in a low-key yet glamorous look on Friday.

The 38-year-old kept a protective hold of her son Eric, 22 months, as she negotiated the streets of the Big Apple outside their hotel following news that the incident was linked to a similar crime at his fellow judge Rita Ora's home.

She carried their sweet son close to her chest in a motherly fashion and robed a camel coat around her own shoulders for warmth.

Lauren rocked the low-key look with aplomb as she drowned her figure slightly with her baggy jumper although she flashed her flesh with the wide-brimmed V-neckline.

Her wet-look leggings added a sexy-edge to the look and she matched the shiny garment to her slip-on leather plimsolls.

The only hint at her A-list glamour was her glimmering gold bracelets, watch and necklace.

Pretty Lauren, who shares 22-month-old son Eric with Simon, was toting an envy-inducing Yves Saint Laurent flap handbag which she carried on her arm even though the bag boasts a long-chain, shoulder strap.

She scraped her hair into a low-ponytail which fell from a centre-parting.

Although she shielded her eyes with an over-sized pair of Ray Ban sunglasses it appeared Lauren was make-up free beneath her glasses.

Lauren's trip to NYC comes after news surfaced that X Factor judge Rita Ora's home was raided a week before her and Simon's home was also targeted - potentially by the same group.

Some £500,000 worth of valuables was stolen from Simon and Lauren's £10million mansion less than three miles away from Rita's north London property.

Police are understood to be investigating the possibility that the same gang could be behind both crimes, and as many as six others in the area.

It comes as Simon revealed he believes whoever robbed his house has 'inside knowledge' of the property.

Last week Simon, 56, admitted he had feared for his son's life when burglars stole the huge amount of valuables from his family home in an overnight raid.

The music mogul said he and partner Lauren rushed to check on baby Eric when they learned of the break-in in the early hours of the morning on Friday 4.
