Willow Smith pulls a Beyonce by surprise-releasing her debut album... as she vows to 'continue excavating my inner worlds'

She has come a long way since whipping her hair back and forth.

Willow Smith surprised fans by dropping her debut album titled Ardipithecus on Friday morning.

The 15-year-old daughter of Will and Jada released her very first full-length record featuring very spaced out tunes with virtually no prior promotion much like Beyonce did two years ago.

Earlier this week she alluded to it by sending out a cryptic message but not much could be deciphered from the post as she simply wrote to her 3.71million followers: 'Dec. 11th.'

The record, which can now be streamed on Spotify and purchased on iTunes, features 15 new tracks including 14 where she is credited as the sole songwriter and 10 where she is named as the sole producer.

As her older brother Jaden has previously compared himself to Galileo, it seems like philosophical ideas run in the family as she gave quite an interesting explanation for the album's title and general concept.

'Ardipithecus Ramidus is the scientific name of the first hominid bones found on earth,' the teenage star wrote to The Fader.

Self reflection: The 15-year-old star discussed the concept of her album with The Fader as she said she participated in plenty of self reflection while 'digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self'

'I wanted to name my musical compilation after it because, while I was making these songs I was in such a transitional state.'

She definitely seemed to be doing plenty of self-reflection when working on the record as she continued: 'Digging deep in the soil of my heart and finding bits and pieces of my ancient self that tell stories, which end up being the lyrics to the songs.

'Ardipithecusis my first album in my entire career and it makes me feel so blessed to be able to share my evolution with the LightEaters as I continue excavating my inner worlds…'

Controversial: The teenage star had plenty of adult content in her album as it features plenty of lyrics referring to drugs and sex

With the idea of her record being so bizarre no doubt the actual music was as well as the songs featured a very slow, ambient instrumentals as she sung and rapped in her own eccentric way.

It was quite a stark contrast to her catchy, upbeat hit Whip My Hair, which took the radio by storm back in 2011.

There are plenty of drug references on the album including one song actually called 'dRuGz.'

Shout out: She even wrote about her famous parents Will and Jada in the opening track as she sang: ''My parents are one and two and I am their child, I am three. I am the wild, I am free'

Opening track Organization & Classification is particularly interesting as it features very controversial lyrics including one that seemingly is a reference to crystal meth that goes: 'I call it crystal, man. You call it rock.'

In the same track she even makes reference to her famous parents as she says: 'My parents are one and two and I am their child, I am three. I am the wild, I am free.'

Despite being in her adolescence the song features very adult content as she also sung: 'They call us w****s but it's just because we do what just we want and don't look back once.'

Multi-faceted: She isn't just into music as she recently was signed up by The Society Management modelling, who count Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima and Toni Garrn among its roster

This is her first album as she has only previously released individual songs and 3 EP last year. She also kept it in the family as her older half brother Trey Smith is featured in three of the songs.

Willow is a teenage girl with many interest as back in October it was reported that she had signed up by The Society Management modelling, who count Kendall Jenner, Adriana Lima and Toni Garrn among its roster.

Willow has already appeared on the cover of i-D magazine and in the recent Icons issue of Harper's Bazaar, as the Hindu goddess Kali.

Back in the day: Her new slow, ambient style of music was a stark contrast from catchy upbeat tune Whip My Hair, which took the radio by storm back in 2011
