Dascha Polanco flashes a smile as she promotes new movie Joy... one week after being charged with assaulting a teen girl
Dascha Polanco isn't letting a looming court date stop her from enjoying life in the Big Apple.
The Orange Is The New Black actress is due back in Manhattan Criminal Court next month on charges of assaulting a teenager, but the 33-year-old was all smiles on Saturday after a hard day's work promoting the movie Joy.
Polanco plays Jennifer Lawrence's best friend in the David O. Russell film and she joined the rest of the cast for a day of media interviews before heading to dinner at Nobu.

The actress stepped out in a pair of very wide blue pants with a matching blue and white floral top.
Polanco added a dark blue overcoat as added protection from the chilly night air.
She wore her long hair up in a sophisticated topknot which accentuated the large gold earrings she had on.

Legal troubles: On December 3, she was arraigned in a Manhattan courtroom charged with assaulting a 17-year-old girl on July 29 and is due back in court on January 28
Polanco was arraigned on December 3, the same day she turned 33, accused of punching and scratching a 17-year-old girl inside an upper Manhattan apartment on July 29.
She's due back in court on January 28.
Polanco's attorney, Gerald Lefcourt, said the accusation was an attempt to extort money from the actress, adding he's confident the charges will be dismissed.
The Dominican Republic native found fame as pregnant prisoner Dayanara Diaz on the popular Netflix series.

Polanco's character Jackie is at the side of Joy, played by Lawrence, as she fights to overcome obstacles and be successful in business.
The movie, that opens on Christmas Day, will have its red carpet premiere in New York on Sunday night.
She'll be seen on the big screen next year in The Perfect Match with Donald Faison, Cassie Ventura and Paula Patton.
