UFC fighter Ronda Rousey honored her promise to attend a Marine Corps Ball in South Carolina with a bold marine who asked her to be his date.

Rousey, 28, teamed up with Marine Jarrod Haschert at the event, as promised, seemingly shrugging off her recent loss to rival fighter Holly Holm.

Back in August, Haschert, 22, bravely posted a video to Facebook in which he asked his 'celebrity crush' to accompany him to the ball.

In September, Rousey was asked on camera whether she'd seen the viral video and admitted that she had, adding that she'd be happy to go.

Photos shared on Instagram show the pair happily posing together for pictures at the ball.

Haschert, dressed in full uniform, beams with pride as he stands beside Rousey, who is wearing a black dress and has her blonde hair in lose curls.

Prettyboi1023 also posted a picture of Rousey at the event. She was all smiles, and he wrote in his caption that she had said 'hi' to him on video chat.

The MMA superstar has kept a low profile since she was beaten in November - for the first time - by rival fighter Holly Holm.

Rousey was dethroned in emphatic fashion at UFC 193 when Holm's head-kick finished a near perfect dissection of the then women's bantamweight champ.

In her first interview after the fight she admitted that she was 'really f**king sad' after her loss to Holm.

Rousey, who won two ESPY awards, best fighter and best female athlete, added that she was keen to have a re-match with Holm saying: 'It's what I want, but it's up to the UFC and it's up to her camp, so we'll see what happens.'

Rousey stepped out to attend the ball on Friday saying it was an 'honor' to be invited.

She told TMZ: 'I promised I'd go [to the ball]. It's an honor to be asked. Honestly, I'd probably stay on my couch, crying and eating ice cream if he hadn't asked me. So it's probably a good thing.'

Her invitation came after Haschert posted a video on Facebook in August begging her to go.

'You are my celebrity crush,' the Marine confessed after introducing himself.

'I love everything that you do, and I think that you are a phenomenal person which is why it would be my honor to take you to the Marine Corps Ball on December 11,' he said.

'I really hope this doesn't get in the way of your training ... but I hope you take this into consideration, because if you do, you will truly be making my dream come true.'

The heartfelt video quickly got over four million views and was eventually seen by Rousey.

Date night: Rousey agreed to attend the event but added one stipulation: 'He's gotta be a gentleman'

At first she thought she might not be able to make it, because she would be busy training on December 11. But a change was made to her schedule allowing her to go.

'I actually can go, but I don't know how to hit him up and say, like, 'Yeah, I wanna go with you,' Rousey said.

'Do I call him? Do I set up a time and place like 'Never Been Kissed' and just show up and have him waiting there?'

She also added one stipulation: 'He's gotta be a gentleman, though, I'm not a first date kind of girl. But, I dunno, we'll see when I meet him.'

Rousey is currently dating UFC fighter Travis Browne.
