University of Colorado student, 22, is arrested for murder after fellow student, 26, is found STABBED to death after argument

A 22-year-old University of Colorado student was arrested for second-degree murder after another student was found stabbed to death early Saturday following an off-campus dispute.

26-year-old Sean Hudson was named as the victim by the Boulder County Coroner's Office, according to the Boulder Daily Camera

The coroner's office described the official cause of death as pending, the newspaper reported

Hudson, of Greenfield, Indiana, is listed as a social psychology graduate student on a University of Colorado Boulder webpage.

Scheuermann is majoring in physics, CU-Boulder spokesman Ryan Huff told the Boulder Daily Camera.

A Boulder police news release said: 'Detectives believe that he fatally stabbed a man near the intersection of Broadway and Walnut Streets on Dec. 12, shortly before 2:07 a.m.

'The victim was stabbed multiple times after an argument escalated into violence. 

'Scheuermann was taken into custody without incident. 

'Detectives are continuing their investigation as to what led to the assault.'

An earlier release from Boulder police said 'He and the victim had mutual acquaintances.'

Police spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly told the Boulder Daily Camera: 'We do know what the argument was over.

'However at this point in the investigation, we are not ready to publicly release that, yet.'

Referring to Scheuermann, Cordingly told the newspaper: 'He hasn't been uncooperative.'

University of Colorado Boulder Chancellor Philip P. DiStefano said in a statement: 'On behalf of the entire CU-Boulder community, I want to express my condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this senseless act of violence.

'I also call on our entire campus community to reject violence unilaterally as a way of resolving disputes.

'As we have seen in recent months here in Colorado and around the world, it stamps out our individual hopes, dreams and aspirations, and those of our communities.'

There were no listings in court records for Scheuermann or an attorney.

Boulder police said the 22-year-old is being held inside the Boulder County Jail.
