'Not our fault': Caroline Flack takes to Twitter to defend The X Factor live final technical gaffes as viewers slam 'embarrassing' incidents

Their role as hosts has been met with a lukewarm reception.

And despite Caroline Flack and Olly Murs' best efforts to allow Saturday night's X Factor live final run without a glitch, the show was fraught with technical issues.

Caroline, 36, has jumped to the defense of the show as she insisted that she and her 31-year-old co-host were not to blame for the evening's faults.

After the stunning star introduced a video link to the night's performances - including finalists Reggie N Bollie, Che Chesterman and Louisa Johnson - the wrong track played over the video.

Che's rendition of The Zutons hit Valerie was shown on-screen although the audio for Rita Ora's rousing duet with Louisa, singing Jennifer Hudson's I Am Telling You, played over the top.

Seemingly unaware of the issue, the sound then cut-out together and viewers could hear Caroline asking for guidance while Olly spoke next to her.

After an onslaught of Twitter reactions were aimed at the duo, a piece was also published in The Sun newspaper stating that Caroline and Olly were 'caught' in the gaffe.

Caroline clearly took issue with the claims as she rushed to Twitter to respond to the article, as she posted on the micro-blogging site: 'Not our fault. Technical issue. Get your facts right'

On the show, the blonde beauty looked horrified after the glitch, while music mogul and X Factor boss Simon Cowell reacted in a spectacular fashion.

The slight problems come after Olly was met with outrage earlier in the competition when he prematurely announced the departure of hopeful Monica Michaels.

Overall the show was eventful and saw the departure of Che Chesterman - the last of Nick Grimshaw's acts.
