Was Kate's hair cut by Royal command? Queen may have had some influence on new shorter 'do

Has the Duchess of Cambridge been shortening her hair to please the Queen

When Kate starting lowering the hems on her dresses last year, it was widely reported she was doing it with the backing of the Queen, who was keen she avoid wardrobe malfunctions on windy days.

Now I hear that Her Majesty's views on hairstyles may be why Kate has been adopting a more 'sensible' look.

As my photos over the past six months show, Kate has gradually lopped several inches off her glossy locks.

Word reaches me Kate was quietly advised to swap the glamour girl hairdo she sported at Wimbledon in July for a length more appropriate for a future head of The Firm. But as she did not want to admit defeat quickly, she has been making the transition in stages.

By the time Kate went to a London conference in November her stylist had trimmed her hair slightly, but she sported a far more sensible style at a charity event in Wiltshire on Thursday, right. How long before we see her with a Sophie Wessex bob?

Try the teal trend in a dress like Kate's

We're always on the look out for the Duchess of Cambridge's next outfit and today she didn't disappoint.

As we all know Kate is the queen of recycling old favorites and this is the third time this week she's gone to the back of her wardrobe to find the right piece. No extraneous shopping for this royal family member.

This teal dress is by Emilia Wickstead and keen Kate followers will notice not only has she been spotted in it more than once but she also has the same design in pastel pink. If you like something then get it in every color!

Kate's teal treat is from 2013 so, of course, is no longer available to buy but click (right) to shop the label's current collection at Matches Fashion. Or recreate the look with one of the dresses in our edit below.

And why not add Kate's coat to complete the look?

Prince Harry is the first to poke fun at his thinning hair, so he won't mind me letting slip a funny moment from his trip to Lesotho last month.

Harry, 31, was encouraged to try an old African remedy to combat baldness – rubbing turmeric on his scalp.

Though it was said in passing, he recounted the tale when he returned home, telling friends: 'I'll try anything!'

I thought Prince William was just being polite when he posed for a photograph with the world's top basketball player, LeBron James, last year, but it turns out he's addicted to the sport – and it's driving his wife mad!

I overheard the Duchess at the ICAP charity day last week telling traders about William's infuriating habit of slumping on the sofa all weekend to watch the sport on TV.
