Squaring off against each other across a table in the prison visitor's room, the two men appear to be at firm odds as Robert tries to warn Rob off of Tracy.

Making the journey to meet his girlfriend/ex-wife's former flame, Robert is determined to put  a stop to Rob's control over Ken Barlow's most troublesome child.

However Rob - Carla's younger brother and Tina McIntyre's murderer - has a nasty surprise in store for his love rival.

Sat alone in his prison clothing, Rob appears to be feeling quite smug as he reveals to the chef that Tracy has been secretly visiting him in prison.

However the ante is upped when Robert tells the former wheeler and dealer that he is going to propose to Tracy on Christmas day.

Dropping his bombshell, and promptly leaving, Robert leaves Rob alone to ponder what there mercurial Tracy might do next.

Speaking about his return to the Cobbles, Marc said: 'Rob's had a lot of time to think about things over the last year and ponder why he ended up where he is. He's got a sternness to him, he's a bit colder than he was before.'

He continued: 'Rob's of the attitude that if he's having it so hard for the foreseeable future then why should everyone else have it so easy.

'He feels that he's been hard done by and he just wants a little bit of payback.'

Marc first hit the cobbles in 2011 as Carla's reformed jailbird brother, but following his romance with Tracy the dodgy dealer ended up killing Tina McIntyre - which he then tried to pin on Peter Barlow.
