Meet Australia's own Taylor Swift! Teen 'checkout chick' who is constantly mistaken for superstar singer finally meets her lookalike during 1989 tour

Australian fans of Taylor Swift have been keeping a watchful eye on the streets while the US singer has been in town over the past two weeks. 

And amid the frenzy, 19-year-old New South Wales resident Olivia Sturgiss has managed to attract plenty of attention due to her uncanny resemblance to the 25-year-old singer.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Saturday, the Taylor lookalike and Target retail assistant opened up about what it takes to recreate the image of the pop sensation, who she finally met in Melbourne on Friday night.

'I got my hair cut consciously like hers but everything else is just sort of coincidental,' Olivia insisted, the teen having coloured her gingery brown hair to blonde and chopped it to match Taylor's cropped above-the-shoulder look. 

As well as sporting the identical hairstyle to the Shake It Off hitmaker, Olivia, who refers to herself as a 'checkout chick' working at department store Target, is often seen sporting similar outfits and a slick of Taylor's signature scarlet lipstick.

'The clothing and stuff - we've actually got pretty similar taste. I don't really consciously dress like her,' Olivia explained. 

'I wear red lipstick because it's a Taylor Swift concert,' she continued about glamming up for the live shows, though admitted her resemblance is actually rather natural.

'I think it's just the facial structure. I've got small eyes and bigger lips like her,' she explained. 

'Sometimes I won't wear makeup at all and still get told I look like her.' 

With her ownhashtag #NoItsLiv , Olivia has become an online sensation herself, posing for photos with Taylor Swift fans who approach her on the streets. 

But on Friday night she was the one fangirling when she and pal Kristy Lee were handpicked from the audience at the Melbourne concert to meet Taylor backstage. 

'She was actually shorter than me,' was one of Olivia's first observations of the Blank Space singer upon seeing her up close and personal.

Shake It Off: Olivia has been a fan of Taylor's for many years, and has attended five of her concerts 

She said, "Oh my god you're so tall. Usually I'd be wearing heels but I've got a bad ankle",' Olivia recounted. 

'I asked her how she did it and she said "months of touring". She was like "Yeh I have to limp off stage".' 

Having a few special minutes to share with Taylor as a part of the Loft 89 meet-and-greet experience, Olivia took the opportunity to bond with the musician on a deep level. 

According to Olivia's pal Kristy, Taylor had already noticed her lookalike via blogging app Tumblr - a platform the singer often uses to connect with her supporters.

'I found you on Tumblr and remember saying "wow you look like me" and then Liv lost her mum earlier this year and she said she saw the Tumblr post and both of us were trying not to cry,' Kristy told DMA. 

Earlier this year Olivia's mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer, before unfortunately passing away in October. 

Olivia's Tumblr post had been dedicated to her mother's diagnosis and love for Taylor, and was also a message of support to the songstress whose own mother Andrea's cancer diagnosis was announced in April.

'The same week she announced her mum was diagnosed with cancer was the same week my mum was diagnosed with cancer so I think maybe it hit her close to home,' Olivia said. 

She also shed light on one of her late mother's promises made before her death, that she would ensure her girl would meet Taylor one day. 

And after having attending four of Taylor's concerts over the years, Olivia's dream finally came true on Friday night when she met the singing superstar at AAMI Park in the Victorian state. 

No doubt meeting the Grammy winner will be a moment she will cherish forever, and she feels honoured to provide an ounce of joy to others who are thrilled at the sight of simply seeing her around Sydney.

'The little, little girls who think I'm Taylor, I look at their mums and their mums know. So I'm like I'll let their mums tell them, I don't have the heart to tell them,' Olivia explained, touched she has been able to give other fans a real fun reason to shake it off.
