Hundreds of thousands of savers who opened a one-year fixed pensioner bond account last year will see their rate tumble if they opt into one of NS&I; rollover accounts. At the start of the year, the 65+ guaranteed growth bonds came with a 2.8% rate. Pensioners rushed to gobble them up - £13bn poured into the Government-backed product, meaning it was the biggest selling financial product in Britain's modern history, according to the Treasury.
