Ronda Rousey is still 'really f****** sad' about being knocked out by Holly Holm and hasn't been able to eat an apple since the fight.

Rousey was dethroned in emphatic fashion at UFC 193 when Holm's head-kick finished a near perfect dissection of the then women's bantamweight champ.

In her first interview since the shocking defeat in on November 13, the 28-year-old has admitted she has a long road to recovery before she steps into the Octagon again.

Rousey was taken to hospital after the fight in Melbourne and had her lip sewn up by a plastic surgeon.

In extracts from ESPN Magazine's Ideals of the Year edition, released by people.com, Rousey says she is still 'really f****** sad' about losing her belt.

When asked if she plans to fight again soon, Rousey says: 'It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact.'

Rousey had defended her title six consecutive times before losing to Holm on November 13

Rousey, who won two ESPY awards, best fighter and best female athlete, will appear on the cover of the magazine which is released on Friday.

UFC president Dana White confirmed last week that he was planning to give Rousey an immediate rematch against Holm, but the Olympic bronze medalist's comments would suggest that Holm might be on the shelf for a while if that is to be the case.

While Rousey is still struggling to eat, her successor Holm returned to her native Albuquerque to a crowd of thousands chanting her name this weekend.

Holm has said she is more than happy to give a rematch to Rousey, who was on a run of six UFC title defences before losing to the 34-year-old former boxing champion.
