Sharing details of the random occurrence on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show, Nick said: 'First of all when I arrived in Wembley, Adele was sat in the bins!

'Not in a bin but that bin bit underground Wembley where you come in. She was just sat there on her own.'

Giggling as he relived the moment, he continued: 'I was like "Are you ok? Are you alright sat by the bins in Wembley?"'

Grimshaw then revealed that his former contestant Ché wasn't aware it was in fact Adele and as a result failed to realise he had a superstar fan.

Nick added: 'And she sat there and went up to Ché and was like "I love you, I cried at your VT, I think you've got an amazing voice".

'He had no idea it was Adele and he just went, "Yeah nice one sweetheart".'
