SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Longleat heir inherits Daddy's taste in women
OCCASION: Joint party for lingerie label Agent Provocateur and luxury jeweller David Morris.
VENUES: Lingerie show at Annabel’s in Mayfair, central London, followed by dinner at 34, on Grosvenor Square — both owned by Richard Caring.
GUESTS: Longleat heir Ceawlin Thynn and his wife Lady Weymouth (pictured together, right, with Agent Provocateur models), Liz Hurley’s ex Arun Nayar with his fiancée Kim Johnson and Brazilian property developer Patricia Mondinni.

LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON: His father Lord Bath kept ‘wifelets’ at his Longleat home, and now Ceawlin finds himself cushioned between these three beauties (wife included). ‘He was uncomfortable at first, but he’s a good sport,’ a fellow guest observed.
MOST DARING: Lady Weymouth gave the scantily clad models a run for their money in a very revealing red dress.
AVOIDING TEMPTATION: Businessman Robert Tchenguiz skipped the racy show at Annabel’s and just attended the dinner — which was by no means a more sober affair as the champagne and wine were served just as freely.

TALKING POINT: His 50-year-old sister Lisa Tchenguiz (inset right), did away with eveningwear and shocked guests in a lacy black lingerie number — by Agent Provocateur, naturally.
HIGH ALERT: Security guards mingled among the guests to ensure no one made off with the ubiquitous David Morris jewellery, which was on show all night.
Barbican chief Sir Nicholas Kenyon is offering a plutocrat the chance to have what promises to be the most prestigious new cultural venue in Britain named after them.
The state-of-the-art concert hall is to be built on the site of the Museum of London. ‘We will launch a major fundraising campaign for the £125 million of private money we estimate we will need,’ says Kenyon.
‘If a major donor comes forward they can name the new concert hall.’
Currently called the Centre for Music, there’s no denying the project needs a more exciting name.
When Downton Abbey ends on Christmas Day, it will at least give actress Phyllis Logan a break from excitable fans.
Logan, who plays housekeeper Mrs Hughes, says Americans are the most obsessive. ‘The most extreme reaction I’ve had is a woman in Atlanta.
She said: “Me and my husband love you,” and she was dressed up as Mrs Hughes and him as Mr Carson. Then she told me that she had “Mrs Hughes chatelaine” tattooed on her hip. That is extreme.’
The convention that previous James Bond films directors don’t criticise their successors has been revoked by John Glen, who directed five consecutive Bond films in the Eighties.
Glen moans in his new book For My Eyes Only: ‘Most of the recent Bond films have been a little lacking in humour for my taste.’ Though Glen praises Casino Royale and Skyfall, I’m not sure current 007 director Sam Mendes, responsible for the latest epic, Spectre, will see the funny side.
Lily James is pictured in a scene on Downtown Abbey
Downtown's Lily unlaces her corset
She became famous wearing a corset in Downton Abbey, but in her latest role Lily James has been able to breathe more easily.
‘I did not have to wear a corset in War And Peace,’ says James of her part (left) in the forthcoming BBC adaptation.
‘What a relief.’
But James, 26, did have to learn to ride side saddle for the Tolstoy epic, which left her in a state of acute anxiety as she did not feel in control of the horse.
The actress also reveals she learnt her lines for War And Peace on the set of Downton, in which she played Lady Rose. ‘I carried the book around like the Bible.’
Her co-star James Norton, who plays Prince Andrei, also kept his copy on the set of Happy Valley, where he plays psychopath Tommy.
‘I even had it at a bus stop in one shot,’ he tells me.
