Tom announced in June he and Ashley were expecting a daughter.

He posted a picture of his son holding an ultrasound picture on twitter and wrote: 'Jax is very excited, but also a bit confused with the happy news he will have a little sister this fall #grateful (sic)'

The True Lies actor - who has been married three times before, including to comic Rosanne Barr - has previously been open about his struggles to father a child because of his low sperm count.

He previously said: 'One day at the hospital I saw a sign asking for sperm donors and it paid $35. I was psyched because, unlike blood, I believed I could donate this stuff three times a day.

'Fortunately, they give you a test first and the doctor informed me that I didn't have many "swimmers."'

However, despite his problems, the star believes having Jax was fate.

Announcing Ashley's pregnancy in 2013, he said: 'I've tried with other people, but since there is a God we were unable to conceive. Now God said, "This is it!"'
