Zara Phillips and Mike Tindall joined a host of other royals for a festive spin on the ice rink at Lapland UK this weekend.

The regal Christmas outing saw Zara, 34, Mike, 37, and daughter Mia Grace, one, join Sophie Wessex and her children Louise and James Windsor for a seasonal treat.

Also along for the ride at the popular yuletide attraction, which lies in Whitmoor Forest near Ascot, was Peter Phillips, wife Autumn and their two children Isla and Sophie.

The families all donned orange ice skating boots to take a twirl on the makeshift frozen lake with Zara using a skating aid penguin to push Mia Grace, who turns two on January 17th, around the rink.

The equestrian star looked toasty in a blue padded coat and jeans while Mia sported a similar mini-version of her mum's jacket in a light grey with cute denim jeggings.

Dad Mike Tindall, with a black rucksack on his back and wearing a thick winter coat, made light work of the rink, skating around with ease and chatting to Louise Windsor, 12.

Sophie Wessex, in a woollen roll-neck jumper, jeans and a padded jacket with orange trim, also seemed to enjoy her time on the ice even if she looked to be concentrating hard on not falling over.

The families were enjoying a day-out at the public attraction, which every year transforms Whitmoor Forest into a veritable winter wonderland with faux snow, a Lapland-inspired village and real reindeer.

As well as learning how to make gingerbread with Mrs Christmas, the attraction also offers a toy workshop where you can make wooden toys with elves and, of course, get a chance to meet the man in red himself. Tickets to the attraction for yesterday would have cost £89.95 per person.

The winter-themed park seems to be the go-to attraction for high profile revellers this year with actresses Emilia Fox, Tamzin Outhwaite and former pop star Michelle Heaton all visiting already in December.

For the royals, it's been a fun-packed season with the Queen holding her annual Christmas Dinner at Buckingham Palace last Wednesday, which both Zara Phillips and the Countess of Wessex attended.

The yearly pre-Christmas lunch is a royal tradition and allows the Queen to catch up with more distant relations, who are not invited to join her at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk on the 25th.
