About the Book

Jilted Generation was first published in September 2010. A new updated edition was published in September 2013.

Conceived just 6 months prior to publication when Ed and Shiv became frustrated at the short-sightedness of politicians, who were ignoring what was happening to Britain’s young people, and of the media, who simply reviled them as burdens on their parents. Researched and written at breakneck speed they uncovered uncomfortable truth after uncomfortable truth about how little thought was given to ‘Thatcher’s Children’ and how much the future of every generation depended on them not simply becoming a lost generation.

Three years on, with youth unemployment at record levels, tuition fees at eye-watering highs, home buying out of reach, rents exorbitant, an ageing population who’s pensions rely on future employment and a government who refuse to lift their heads out of the sand, Ed and Shiv have returned to examine what’s happened since 2010 and whether there’s any more hope for the future.

Jilted Generation isn’t just for those born after 1979 or their parents, it’s for everyone who’s invested in our society and in our future.
