SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Ex-Dragon Kelly gets a helping hand home

Interior designer Kelly Hoppen certainly enjoyed herself at the Lampard/Bleakley nuptials at the weekend.

The usually icy former Dragons’ Den star was in high spirits as she emerged from the Mayfair Arts Club in the early hours of Monday morning, requiring her boyfriend retired businessman John Gardiner’s arm for support as she made her way to her cab.

Hoppen, who previously dated Frank Lampard’s England team-mate Sol Campbell, recently put the final touches to her designs for the couple’s ‘dream’ West London home, which boasts a basement swimming pool, gym and cinema.

Doubtless she was due a few festive tinctures.

Dave takes Samantha to a Sexy party

The Tories were once branded the nasty party, but clearly they are on a mission to rebrand themselves as the sexy party.

Last night, David Cameron and his wife Samantha hot-footed it to a Christmas bash at Richard Caring’s fashionable new Mayfair restaurant Sexy Fish.

The party was hosted by the PM’s former chief strategist Steve Hilton and his wife Rachel Whetstone, senior vice-president of policy at taxi service Uber. Also there were Chancellor George Osborne and his wife Frances, plus former MP Francis Maude.

Guests did not have to rub shoulders with fellow punters, but were coralled into a private room.

Roll on New Year’s Eve where highrollers can attend what is billed as ‘the sexiest party in town’ at the same venue — and probably the priciest. Bar tables are still available for a minimum spend of £1,000.

Did recluse tycoon leave mansion to the nation?

Died at 87: Reclusive property tycoon Harry Hyams

Died at 87: Reclusive property tycoon Harry Hyams

Seldom have the contents of a will been awaited with as much interest as that of Harry Hyams, the reclusive property tycoon who has died aged 87.

Hyams - who changed London’s skyline when he built Centre Point in 1963 - lived in what many people regard as one of the most beautiful houses in the country, Ramsbury Manor, near Marlborough in Wiltshire.

But he and his wife, Kay, who died four years ago, had no children and it was rumoured that the house would be left for the nation in some form. When Hyams bought Ramsbury Manor in 1964 for £650,000, it was the record price for a private house sale in Britain.

In 2006, thieves raided his home and stole an estimated £30 million worth of paintings and collectibles, including a 1675 clock from the reign of Charles II.

‘Harry always hated selling anything and I dare say that from beyond the grave he will make sure Ramsbury Manor never comes on to the open market,’ an acquaintance of Hyams tells me.

In the latest newsletter from Lord’s, MCC members have been asked to help find scorers, particularly those who are familiar with computerised scoring.

That’s the good news; the bad news is new recruits will receive a mere £20 per match. So much for the living wage, never mind the minimum wage. Howzat!
