She is returning home for the holidays after a whirlwind year and the announcement of her split from fiancé Phoebe Dahl.

And newly-single Ruby Rose attempted to keep a low-profile as she landed at Melbourne airport to reunite with her family and enjoy some time out of the spotlight.

Working an off-duty look in a casual ensemble, which she teamed with a backwards cap and oversized shades, the actress was seen wheeling her luggage through the airport as she made her way to her waiting car.

Ruby couldn’t hide her delight at being reunited with her loved ones for long as she went on to post a short clip on Instagram featuring her mother’s pet pig Euphemia.

In the brief video, Ruby could be heard saying: ‘Hey Euphemia, hi. Did you miss me? Did you miss me? Did you miss me you big fatty?’

The 29-year-old captioned the video saying: ‘The only pork in my life at Xmas.. Missed this big ol' thang. 35 degrees, surf weather, time to hit the beach. Welcome home Melbourne.’

Ruby has her own pet pig Hazel, whom she often posted snaps with alongside her former fiance Phoebe.

Following the new of their surprise split last week, Ruby took to Twitter to pay tribute to her freshly-ended relationship.

She wrote: 'Phoebe remains very dear to my heart. I will forever treasure our time together. I'm a better person because of the time we shared.'

The couple announced the end of their 20-month engagement - Ruby's fourth - which 27-year-old Phoebe - the granddaughter of British author Roald Dahl - revealed to TMZ took place weeks ago, over Thanksgiving.

The split comes six months after Ruby - who describes herself as 'gender fluid' - made her big debut on American TV series, Orange Is The New Black as Stella Carlin.

The Australian is now busy preparing for her upcoming role in John Wick 2, which is due to be released in 2016.
