Children across America will rush down their stairs tomorrow morning to find a pile of presents waiting for them under their Christmas trees. But for thousands of families there will be less gifts than they planned - after FedEx admitted it did not make all of its scheduled deliveries on time. With just hours to go until Christmas, the delivery service admitted defeat, infuriating scores of customers (tweets inset) whose festive plans are now ruined. Despite spending two months planning for the holiday rush, FedEx blamed people for ordering gifts at the last minute, as well as saying bad weather had held up some deliveries.

Pope Francis used his Christmas message to urge Israelis and Palestinians to sit down behind the negotiation table and agree on a peace deal to allow both sides 'to live together in harmony'. The unnamed man was thought to be preparing to jump (left) when Recep Erdogan's motorcade was passing over the 211ft-tall bridge, which links Europe with Asia, after Friday prayers. News footage showed Erdogan's bodyguards bringing the sobbing man (inset top right), who appeared to be in his early 30s, to talk to him through the window of his car (inset bottom right). After a few moments, the man can then be seen kissing Erdogan's hand before being escorted to safety. Police had allegedly been trying for almost two hours to talk the man out of committing suicide.

Pueraria lobate (also known as kudzu),the world's most aggressive and invasive plant (pictured) species, is the subject of a photo-series by Swedish photographer Helene Schmitz.Schmitz, who had her first US solo show at the Turn gallery in New York from October 21 to November 29, spent the summer of 2012 traveling through Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina with her assistant Felix Bridell in order to capture 'nightmarish' images of the powerful plant.

Judy and Jerry Sheindlin's 8,550-square-foot condo in Naples, Florida, comes with four bedrooms, six bathrooms, two private elevators, wraparound windows overlooking the bay, a sauna and access to a pool. Performers Nick Giassi and Jobson Chaves (inset) were filming a new comedy sketch last Saturday in Pompano Beach, Florida near the local airport when a woman (left and right) pulled over on the side of the road in a black Chevrolet Tahoe SUV. The unidentified woman immediately started yelling racial insults at the men at the start of the video. 'I said you were a scum bag, you're child pedophilers (sic),f****t b**ches that turn into terrorists,' she begins to rant on camera. The pair shared the graphic video to both Facebook and YouTube, where it has gone viral and been viewed more than 12 million times.

He's currently embroiled in a $40 million civil lawsuit with her family, But Nick Gordon continued to protest his love for late girlfriend Bobbi Kristina Brown as he shared a controversial Christmas card of the two to his Twitter page on Tuesday. The card, which has been dubbed as 'odd' by some of his followers, is emblazoned with an old picture of the two that has been superimposed so that Santa hats are sat atop their heads, while presents rest in their laps.

Jay Bradford's ring fell in the water off Long Branch, New Jersey, while he was pulling an anchor in during a frustrating day searching for blackfish earlier this month. He got it from his wife Meagan (far left) in June. Bradford, 27 (left on bottom right), and boat captain Nick Barsa returned to the spot four days later with salvage diver Mark Thompson (right on bottom right). Barsa steered the boat using GPS coordinates to the exact spot where the ring (top right) was lost, while dealing with 35-mile-per-hour winds and a big southeast swell. Thompson, who said he has found people's lost cellphones and watches in the ocean, dove in and searched rock ledges and sifted through thousands of mussels. He said he found the ring resting on a rock in about ten minutes.

NEW Abby Catt (pictured left), 21, was released from jail in September after serving two years and 10 months for her role in two bank heists carried out by her father, Scott Catt (top right) and brother Hayden (bottom right) in Texas in 2012 and 2013. During her time behind bars, Abby earned her GED and learned how to sew; she now plans to go to college and become a nurse.

Jen Chervin (pictured right as an adult and left as a baby) of Oregon who was abandoned on the steps of a California hospital 44 years ago has located her biological parents just in time for Christmas. Since Jen was the product of the affair, she is choosing not to name her parents who have kept the pregnancy a secret for many years. Her mother told her that the pregnancy happened while her husband was fighting in Vietnam. Both of her parents are still married to the person they were when the affair occurred.

Karina and Craig Waters from Perth in Western Australia purchased the Chateau de Gudanes in the south of France back in 2013. The Waters family, including their two teenage children, immediately began restoring the sprawling property, which was built in the mid 1700s. The restoration is being documented on the chateau's website and social media accounts. The historic chateau, which overlooks the Midi-Pyrénées, was half in ruins when the Waters family took over with many rooms having no ceiling or floor and the place had remarkably never been outfitted with heat or electricity. Since they purchased the property, the Australian couple have uncovered mysterious tunnels, ancient artefacts and even a fresco painting after peeling away some old wallpaper.

Martinez was most recently arrested on November 26 and she was arraigned on Wednesday in Brooklyn Criminal Court on grand larceny charges for two of the thefts.

This is the heartwarming moment Aer Lingus flew people from the US to Ireland so they could be with their families for Christmas. Arthur Boyt from Cornwall has spent years dining out on dead animals he salvages from the side of the road and today he will be tucking into a dead dolphin, main, for this Christmas lunch. The 76-year-old, inset, found the dead mammal on the beach near his home but despite spending the Christmas with his wife and mother-in-law, they will not be tucking into the same dish as they are vegetarian.
