Mischa Barton flaunts her fashion prowess in chic tailored jacket and ripped skinny jeans as she indulges in some retail therapy

She's been busy working on her upcoming movie, Father.

And it looks like Mischa Barton's hectic schedule might have left her with little time to purchase all of her Christmas gifts as she hit the shops with a female friend on Wednesday. 

The 29-year-old star cut a typically chic figure as she indulged in some retail therapy on West Hollywood's Melrose Avenue.

Despite the relatively mild climates, the former The O.C. star wrapped up in a tailored black trench coat, beneath which she sported a white sweater with frayed hem detailing.

The actress highlighted her lithe legs in ripped black skinny jeans which complimented perfectly with the over-sized leather bag she carried her essentials in.

She brought the look to life with a pair of quirky snake skin ankle boots by upscale retailer Fred Segal.

Her layered blonde locks were worn in an effortlessly sleek style while her face looked to be sporting minimal make-up.

Mischa looks to be well in the Christmas spirit this holiday season, if her Instagram is anything to go by.

Earlier this week the Notting Hill starlet shared a picture of her cute pooch donning reindeer headband, which the star jovially captioned: 'HAPPY HOLIDAYS'.

Meanwhile, Mischa recently wrapped the films Starcrossed and Deserted, and is currently shooting Father, according to IMDB.com.

The actress plays Jennifer in the film alongside co-stars Daryl Hannah, Paul Sorvino, Frankie Avalon and Eric Roberts.

Father, which is directed by Dan Israely and Emilio Roso, is set to be released in 2016.
