Donald Trump may be a fierce debater and a brash critic who is always happy to speak his mind and then some, but there seems to be one place the presidential hopeful is more than happy to lay low - church.

Trump and his family attended the 10:30pm midnight mass service at Bethesda-By-The-Sea in West Palm Beach, Florida on Christmas Eve, and the billionaire businessman somehow managed to avoid the massive number of photographers and members of the press waiting outside to document his arrival.

Instead he slipped inside unnoticed for the service, with the only photographs from the evening coming from some of his fellow churchgoers who uploaded them to social media.

Trump meanwhile went silent on social media for the service, posting shortly before he left to attend the mass; 'Merry Christmas to all. Have a great day and have a really amazing year. Together, we will MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! It will be done!'

Earlier in the day he wrote on Twitter; 'I am now in Palm Beach, Florida, and will be going to church tonight. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!'

Trump's fellow midnight-mass attendees mostly just wrote on Twitter that they had spotted Trump at the service, with a few noting that they were checked by Secret Service members before entering the church.

His Secret Service detail may explain why he slipped in unnoticed as they likely coordinated his entrance to avoid any possible safety concerns for him and his family.

Photos of Trump during the service show him solemnly standing to receive communion and greeting fellow parishioners alongside his wife Melania, dressed in an understated back dress for the occasion.

Family: Earlier this week Lara Trump shared a photo of Donald, Melania and all the Trump children and their spouses at the annual Trump holiday party with Barron missing likely on account of his being too young to attend

Also in Palm Beach for the holiday are Donald's son Eric and his wife Lara, who earlier this week shared a photo of Donald, Melania and all the Trump children and their spouses at the annual Trump holiday party.

Not included in the photo was Barron, most likely on account of the fact that he is still a child and holiday parties tend to be less than suitable environments for youngsters at times, and Trump's youngest daughter Tiffany.

It is not clear if Trump's daughter Ivanka was at the service as she converted to Judaism before marrying her husband Jared Kushner.

She also shared photographs of herself enjoying a tropical vacation with her husband in Belize on Thursday, meaning she likely was not in Palm Beach in time for mass.

Tiffany was also not at the service as she is on vacation with her mother Marla Maples at the North Pole.

Trump's oldest son Donald is in Palm Beach though with his wife Vanessa and their five children where they will celebrate Christmas today at Mar-A-Lago.

Donald Jr. shared a photo of the festive Christmas tree that has been put up at the massive estate on Instagram, writing; 'All done. Stockings up, presents out, cookies partially eaten along with most of the milk all without getting busted by one of the 5 monsters. Ready for the morning.'

As for Trump, while he may have avoided social media during mass, he was in fine form earlier in the day as he went after everyone from Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush to reporters from The New York Times and NBC's Chuck Todd.

Speaking about Clinton, Trump wrote; 'Next year will be an interesting one. I look forward to running against Hillary Clinton, a totally flawed candidate, and beating her soundly.'

As for Bush, he wrote; 'Poor @JebBush spent $50 million on his campaign, I spent almost nothing. He's bottom (and gone), I'm top (by a lot). That's what U.S. needs!'

He then followed that up by adding; 'In the ridiculous @JebBush ad about me, Jeb is speaking to me during the debate, but doesn't allow my answer, which destroys him - SO SAD!'

He also labeled Amy Chozick and Maggie Haberman of The New York Times as 'third-rate reporters' and called Todd dishonest for not using a CNN poll when discussing Trump's polling numbers in a recent news report.

And in the true spirit oif both Christmas and Throwback Thursday, Trump also shared an image from what he considers to be a 'great Chritmas movie' - Home Alone 2, in which he ad a cameo.
