The touching pictures were taken by photographer Jafar Meray, who said he wished to capture the 'stainless hopeful' in Syria.

Mr Meray shared the images on his Facebook page, JafaR Photography, this morning, writing: 'Honeymooners from Syria.

'They chose rubble and destruction to be the background pictures of their wedding.'

The photographer said the shoot was 'proof that life goes on, silently' and that hope 'is always there'.

He told MailOnline he hoped the images would inspire other Syrians not to give up - despite the deadly war that is raging in large parts of the country.

'Love is stronger than war,' he added.

The city of Homs has been a major battleground in the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad. But earlier this month, more than 700 rebels and their families began leaving the last insurgent-held area in the city following several years of combat after reaching a ceasefire with the government.

Despite this, at least 32 people were killed and 90 injured in two bomb explosions in Homs on Monday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The blasts, one from a car bomb and another from a suicide attack, struck the Zahra district in the middle of the city.

The attack was the second major one in the city since the ceasefire took effect - after twin blasts on December, also in Zahra, killed at least 16 people.

Islamic State claimed reponsibility for that attack, saying it had detonated a suicide car bomb.

It comes as Russia's defence ministry has said its air force has made 121 sorties and hit 424 targets in Syria in only two days.

The ministry said the strikes had occurred in Aleppo, Idlib, Latakia, Hama, Homs, Daraa, Raqqa and Deir-ez-Zor provinces, on December 28 and 29.

The targets included a building in the outskirts of Raqqa, which was destroyed following a direct hit by an Su-34 bomber, following a tip-off that it was being used for a meeting of Islamic State field commanders, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the U.S. and its allies staged 28 air strikes yesterday against ISIS in Iraq and Syria, the coalition leading the operations said in a statement.

In Syria, four strikes near four cities struck tactical units and an oil pump station, and destroyed two vehicles and an excavator, it said. Meanwhile, in Iraq, 24 air strikes reportedly concentrated near Mosul and Ramadi struck bunkers, fighting positions and explosive devices among other targets.

Today, Syrians were pictured walking among debris from the bombed-out remains of a local council building in the opposition-held city of Douma.

The building was hit in an airstrike carried out by forces allied with the al-Assad regime, according to local reports.

Douma has been consistently bombed by the regime, leading to the deaths of hundreds of civilians and leaving thousands wounded.

The number of deaths and casualties in the latest airstrike remain unclear.
