He may have spent many years overseas but now Chris Hemsworth is back home he certainly makes the most of all that Australia has to offer. 

The Hollywood heartthrob took part in a favourite Aussie past time on Wednesday, surfing up a storm with pals in Byron Bay. 

Chris, 32, may have covered up in a wetsuit for the dip, but the tight neoprene material showed off his impressive muscles.

The hunky actor was seen emerging from the water to walk up the beach, carrying his board under his arm like a professional. 

The father-of-three was seen sporting several beaded bracelets on his wrists as well as a waterproof oversized sports watch. 

After the surf Chris was seen chatting with friends as he dried off in the sunshine.

Wearing just a pair of navy board shorts Chris perched on a fence as he and his pals recounted their experiences in the waves. 

After spending plenty of time with family over the festive season ti appeared that Chris relished some downtime with his pals before New Year's Eve. 

The whole Hemsworth clan, including his brothers Liam and Luke, have been in Byron over the past week.

The clan have been spotted out together on several occasions and the whole brood were seen heading to the markets in the area. 

Despite moving back to Australia in late 2014 Chris has been in more demand than ever for coveted film roles. 

He starred in no less than four feature films in 2015 and 2016 looks like more of the same. 

As well as appearing in The Huntsman: Winter's War, set for release in April, the hunk will also appear in Ghostbusters, set for release in July.
