'He got way too many toys': Carrie Underwood on how her family spoiled baby son Isaiah during his first Christmas

A baby's first Christmas is a special time for any family.

So perhaps it should be no surprise Carrie Underwood's family and in-laws spoiled her 10-month-old son Isaiah rotten over the festive period.

The country singer revealed he had been blessed with an overabundance of generosity when a fan asked on Twitter if he had a good Christmas.

But it was spending time with family on both sides of the border that seemed to have most pleased Carrie.

The American Idol winner said: 'Yes! He got way too many toys from family and friends, but got to see his cousins and grandparents in OK and Canada!'

And that was plain to see in an image she shared on Monday of her boy sitting on a personalized chair next to his NHL star father Mike Fisher, who plays for perennial also-rans the Nashville Predators.

The Before He Cheats favourite captioned the cute Instagram photo: 'How we spent our Sunday...my man and my lil' monkey!

'He was watching cartoons...the kiddo, that is...not the hubby!'

He got too many tweets: While she did not seem too enthusiastic about him getting so many gifts she was delighted to spend time with her family on both sides of the border

Ironically the 32-year-old had said she and her husband were determined not to shower their son with too many gifts.

When talking about the festive season last month she said a family-oriented Christmas was hugely important to her, rather than just having lavishing her loved ones with expensive presents.

Carrie said: 'I feel there's a lot of Christmas that has kind of gotten lost, [Mike and I] have talked about not wanting to spoil our kids.

'We want it to be more about the family and the fun times.'
