She hit the music scene with a mass of wild back-combed hair and wacky stage outfits.

But Tallia Storm has proved she's growing up as she showed off her new sophisticated style while in Barbados.

The 17-year-old singer headed out for lunch with a pal during her annual festive break.

The pretty blonde's hair was noticeably calmer, while she went for beach chic in a gypsy top and a glitzy skirt.

The Scottish star was all smiles as she chatted with a friend as they made their way down the beach to a restaurant.

Tallia is one of the regular celebrities to jet to the Caribbean for their Christmas and New Year breaks.

Among other stars who head to the sun-soaked beaches of Barbados are Simon Cowell, Chloe Green and the Lineker family.

During a day out in the sun this week, the songstress tweeted: ‘Happiest place on earth #Barbados.’

Despite her tender years, Tallia rose to fame when she was just 13 and had a chance encounter with Elton John's partner David Furnish while on holiday with her family.

The producer was staying at the same hotel and Tallia plucked up the courage to hand him her demo CD in the hope he and the famous singer would listen to it.

'He was absolutely charming and so nice,’ she previously recalled. ‘He asked where I was from and what kind of music I liked. That was it.

‘I sat back down at my table and we literally checked out of the hotel and left, with me thinking - oh well I tried.'

Tallia was about to fly back to UK from San Francisco when she picked up the phone to Elton, who was so impressed with her recordings he invited her to open his show.

She spent six months rehearsing and then took to the stage at the beginning of one of his concerts for a lengthy five-song 25 minute slot.
