She's spent the past few months working tirelessly on the third installment in the Bridget Jones franchise.

But Renee Zellweger enjoyed a day off on Wednesday, swapping her iconic character's brightly-coloured clothing for something a little more relaxed as she stepped out in London.

The 46-year-old cut a lone figure as she walked through the streets of the British capital, almost going incognito with a pair of shades covering her face and with her blonde locks scraped up into a messy high ponytail.

The slender star kept it casual as she donned a pair of classic blue skinny jeans witih a grey sweater and thin padded jacket.

She added a touch of comfortable cool with Adidas trainers, and a sporty bag slung over her shoulder.

The busy Hollywood star, who is living in the UK while filming commences on the hotly-anticipated Bridget Jones' Baby - looked happy to be having a day away from the myriad of filming locations as she took her stroll.

Renee was seen hopping into a car before heading off to another destination, a huge smile on her face.

Earlier in the week, the star had been seen filming chaotic-looking scenes for the forthcoming film at the site of the annual Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, wearing her finest boho-chic gear for the occasion.

Also present on set was her new co-star and on-screen love interest Patrick Dempsey.

However, not seen on the day was Colin Firth, who has returned to play the stoic yet affable Mark Darcy for the third in the series of the hapless single girl.

Renee recently revealed that three different endings have been filmed and none of the cast, including her, know which one will be in the finished film.

'It's kind of brilliant. None of the cast knows who fathered Bridget's baby or who she'll choose as her beau.The plan is to keep us all in the dark, right up to the premiere,' she told The Sunday Express.

While fans have been able to see the filming process in recent weeks, seeing the leading stars getting into character as shooting commences in London, they have witnessed Bridget both pregnant and at the christening of her baby, although the father's identity is not yet known.

It follows on - after a decade-long gap - from the second film, which ended with Bridget engaged and seemingly happy with Mark Darcy, the man of her dreams.

The hugely-anticipated third installment of the Bridget Jones franchise is being directed by Sharon Maguire, the director of the original Bridget Jones's Diary movie which was released in 2001.
