Return of the supermodels! Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer look incredible as they reunite for Balmain campaign

  • Naomi, 45, Cindy, 49, and Claudia, 45, star in Balmain campaign
  • The trio smoulder in the designer's iconic collection
  • Olivier Rousteing said working with them was a 'dream come true'

They were the original supermodels of the 90s and now Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer prove they've still got it as they reunite for a sizzling fashion campaign.

Naomi, 45, Cindy, 49, and Claudia, 45, are the stars of Balmain's spring/summer 16 campaign - and look incredible in the black and white imagery.

Proving they've got better with age, the trio smoulder as they work the camera in the designer's iconic collection.

Speaking about the campaign, Olivier Rousteing, the creative director of Balmain, said: 'While we shot these images, I had to smile as I imagined how my adolescent self would have reacted with utter disbelief if someone could have traveled back in time to tell me that one day I would be in a New York studio, watching Steven Klein shoot Cindy, Claudia and Naomi for my Spring 2016 campaign - for those four singular talents have inspired me from day one.

'When I was a schoolboy in Bordeaux, it was their editorials that first made clear to me the amazing transformative power of fashion. Still today, many years on, their iconic images are often found amongst the jumble on mood boards in my (and almost every other designers') atelier.

'To say that working with them was a dream come true is no exaggeration.

'For this campaign, shot by Steven Klein for the first time, there was never any question of which direction to take. It was obvious that there was no need for any special installation or any type of lighting tricks - Pascal, Steven and I knew that the unique combination of Balmain's Spring 2016 designs and these powerful women was more than enough.

'Therefore, lighting is clean and direct and the women are front and centre.'

Get supermodel style in Cindy's suede trousers

Gigi? Kendall? Cara? Forget about it!

Just in case you forgot the original three-- Cindy, Claudia, and Naomi schooled us on how it's done.

These women looked stunning in the latest Balmain campaign, so much so that we became cross eyed trying to take it all in.

But what really caught our eye was Cindy's all suede, leather on leather ensemble.

We don't need to tell you that suede made a huge comeback this year across the runways. And while most designers opted to take things bohemian, Balmain stuck to their roots and crafted this form fitting moto outfit in that sumptuous tan color.

Sadly, we'll have to wait till Spring before we can get our hands on Cindy's outfit. But in the meantime, we've rounded up some of our favorite alternatives in the edit below.

He continued: 'Watching Cindy, Claudia, Naomi and Steven instinctively work together, I was struck by the displays of confidence, professionalism and grace in front of me.

'There was never any doubt that the final images would be anything but perfect. Looking at them now, I like to think that perhaps someday these shots might also form part of some future designer's mood board.'

Cindy, Naomi and Claudia were the original supers, alongside women including Christy Turlington, Helena Christensen, Elle Macpherson and Linda Evangelista.

The women dominated fashion in the 80s and early 90s and were feted by design houses like Versace, Gucci and Chanel as well the glossy magazines like Vogue, Tatler and Elle.

They were also giants in the advertising world, snapping up contracts with global brands like Revlon, Levi's and L'Oreal.

But since the late nineties, these domains have increasingly been taken over by celebrities from the world of acting, music and most recently, reality television.

For his previous campaigns, well-connected Olivier has enlisted the likes of Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Gigi and Bella Hadid and Jourdan Dunn. He has also featured Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

Olivier is currently riding high as the designer every celebrity wants on speed dial.

Born into humble beginnings, Olivier was adopted at the age of one by a white French couple.

Growing up in Bordeaux, France, Olivier's father managed the seaport and his mother was an optician.

The couple had high hopes for their son to excel at school and go on to become a lawyer - a career path he very nearly followed.

Olivier, who is fluent in French, English, German and Italian, left school at 17 to study law, but his parents' dreams were dashed when he dropped out a month later and moved to Milan.

He quickly gained internships at famed fashion houses, including a stint at Roberto Cavalli, but had to dance in a night club to earn his spending money.

Clearly impressed by his work ethic, Olivier became an assistant and then a designer at Cavalli during his five-year spell there.

By 2009, he had joined label-of-the-moment, Balmain, where he quickly rose in the ranks and became head of womenswear. By 25, he was running the label as creative director.

Close friendships with Hollywood royalty helped cement his status as the designer everyone wanted on speed dial and when Kim Kardashian and Kanye West fronted his campaign in 2014, people outside of the fashion industry started to notice.

Thanks to his ties to Kim and Kanye, Olivier quickly grew close to the Jenners, calling on Hollywood IT girls, Kendall and Kylie to pose in his campaign, alongside supermodel sisters, Bella and Gigi Hadid.

Now every girl wants to be in his 'Balmain army' and he regularly arrives to parties dripping with supermodels, such as Alessandra Ambrosio, Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn, and is enlisted by Rihanna, Beyonce and Jane Fonda to dress them for red carpet events.

Above all, Rousteing is known for his ethically diverse catwalks - something he is keen to maintain.

He always has the most in-demand names walking in his shows and his Balmain X H&M fashion show was case in point.

As the most anticipated collaboration of last year, Olivier made sure he went all out for his show in New York.

Jourdan Dunn, Alessandra Ambrosio, Gigi Hadid, Kendall Jenner and Karlie Kloss and Bella Hadid all walked in his spectacle, which was watched from the front row by Kylie Jenner, Lewis Hamilton, Ellie Goulding and Alexa Chung, and included a performance from Backstreet Boys.

Plus, the Balmain x H&M collection was without a doubt the most highly-anticipated of 2015.

The pieces, which were reimaginings of his red carpet classics for fans on a budget, were structured and tailored to enhance the feminine form - something that makes him so popular among young Hollywood.

Like his celebrity clientele and friends, Olivier is social media savvy, with millions of Instagram followers of his own and an impressive 3.4 million for his label, making Balmain the first French label to pass the million-follower mark.

Whilst Olivier's personal net worth has never been disclosed, there's no doubt his bank balance is booming - and will continue to do so as long as his roster of Hollywood fans step out festooned in his glitzy garments.
