The 36-year-old actress looked sensational as she stormed the stage with The Holiday star, 46, who opted to shockingly remove his trousers as they dished out the Favourite Comedic Movie Actress award to Melissa McCarthy.

Kate ensured she pulled out all the stops for the star-studded event as she sported an elegant Stella McCartney wool playsuit, which highlighted her slender, statuesque figure.

The Almost Famous actress' chic ensemble was the perfect antidote to Jack's less than gentlemanly behaviour as he stormed the stage and proceeded to remove his trousers.

Jack appeared to be mocking virtual reality goggles as he stepped on stage with his stunning co-star.

'This is so crazy to be up here,' an excited Melissa, who wore a pretty pink satin shirt and black trousers, told the crowd.

'I want to thank everyone. You allow me to live out a crazy dream,' she added. 'I can't believe that I get to do it. And I'm going to keep doing it as long as you let me.'

Aside from playing the fool on stage, Jack appeared to be job hunting while he attended the ceremony as he hinted at scooping the coveted Golden Globes hosting gig alongside Kate.

On the red carpet, he said: 'We should host the Globes...That would be fun actually! It seems like a fun gig but it's a stress factory when you get right down to it.'

It was announced in October that Ricky Gervais would host the 73rd Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, for his fourth turn as host - although the 2017 gig could go to Kate and Jack.

He did however go on to praise Ricky's performance, writing: 'He's pretty badass when he really brings it strong. I can't believe he's back! He was so spicy last time I thought they were gonna just ban him from television forever.'
