A 15-year-old schoolgirl who disappeared for two months has been found.

Emmadilla Peacock-Lewis was last seen leaving her father's home on French Street in East Toowoomba, east of Brisbane, on September 28.

Queensland Police has confirmed the young girl was located safe and well in on the north coast of New South Wales, about 500 kilometres from her hometown.

Initial reports suggested that Emmadilla may have travelled to Tasmania in the company of 42-year-old drifter Justin Bradburn, who she had just met before she went missing.

She has since returned home to her family in Toowoomba.

A Queensland Police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia that Emmadilla was believed to be alone when she was located.

'We believe she was alone when her family picked her up,' a police spokeswoman said.

'The man who she may have travelled with is still outstanding.'

The revelation comes after she was last active on Facebook in early September after uploading selfies that gained the attention of her then boyfriend, the Courier Mail reported.

The Tasmanian man, who Emadilla was believed to be hiding out with, was also listed as a missing person on October 31 after his family reported him to police.

In a passionate plea, Emmadilla's mother Kathleen begged her daughter to come home, saying: 'I love you sweetheart, and I'd like to see you come home.'

'There's a lot of people, friends and family, who also feel the same way.'

Detective Inspector Dave Isherwood stressed to reporters that the case was a 'missing persons investigation and nothing else,' but asked the public for their assistance in locating the girl.
