J.Law wins the battle of the BFFs! Jennifer Lawrence defeats best pal Amy Schumer to win Golden Globe as she gushes she 'wants to be buried' next to director David O Russell

Jennifer Lawrence beat best friend Amy Schumer to win the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy.

But the Joy actress, 25, still got a big hug and standing ovation from the Trainwreck star, 34, as she took the stage to accept her award.

Wearing a red Dior gown and sparkling diamond necklace, the 25-year-old paid gushed about director David O Russell, telling him she wants them to be buried next to each other.

'Every time I am up here it is because of you,' she told David, who also directed her in Silver Linings Playbooks and American Hustle.

'Thank you for choosing me, thank you for your brilliance, thank you for teaching me so much, professionally, personally,' said Jennifer.

'Your love of cinema is so pure and you're so untainted by all of this. You make movies like you don't even care if anyone ever sees them.'

And she then paused added: 'I mean that as a compliment! I just heard it...' she joked, pointing to her ears. 'But really, it's such a good, pure thing,' she added.

Jennifer plays Miracle Mop inventor Joy Mangano in the movie, and she paid tribute to her real-life inspiration, saying it was 'an honor to play you.'

And after giving a thank you to her family and a shout-out to her hometown and Kentucky, Jennifer again gushed about her Joy director.

'David, I love you. I want us to be buried next to each other, I do!'

Look red hot like Jennifer Lawrence in a floor-sweeping frock

You can always count on Jennifer Lawrence to shut down the red carpet, and the 2016 Golden Globes was no exception. Jennifer stole the show in her stunning floor-sweeping red Dior dress (because, what else?). Her statement Chopard necklace added grandeur without pretension.

Striking in its simplicity, we love the clean lines of the frock and how the cut-out sides confidently allude to skin. It's strong yet sexy, so J-Law.

Unfortunately for us, this dress is custom made but you can shop the look from our edit below. Style with silver metallic sandals and a touch of red lippy to finish the modern Hollywood look off.

Earlier, Amy stunned the audience - and was bleeped by censors - when she dropped the c-bomb at the microphone with J.Law by her side.

The outspoken comedian and Jennifer joked about coming up with a celebrity nickname that was better than A.Schu.

'Amy, you can't just give yourself a nickname,' said Jennifer. 'It has to come naturally. What do people usually call you?'

Usually they just call me c***', said Amy, as the censors jumped in to bleep her out.

The camera then cut to Cate Blanchett and Julia Louis-Dreyfus looking shocked.

'We can forget about that, but that's true,' joked Jennifer, who went on: 'Maybe you'll get a celebrity couple nickname.'

The comedian quickly suggested her favorite, 'Ames-Tom Hardy.'
