One big change this season will be that they are moving taping of the programme from New York to Los Angeles.

Of the judges, President of Alternative and Late-Night Programming Paul Telegdy said: 'Howie, Mel and Heidi have an undeniable chemistry together and bring unbridled energy to everything they do.

'We are very excited to bring them back along with Nick Cannon as host, and with the addition of creator Simon Cowell as a judge, the panel just got a little more interesting. We can’t wait for the new season to begin.'

Cowell seems particularly excited about the big move as he announced the news on Twitter back in October as he said: 'The good news is 'America's Got Talent' is back next year and the even better news is so am I!'

Releasing an official statement about his new role, Simon enthused: 'I am really thrilled to be joining ‘America’s Got Talent’ next season.

'What I love about this show is that it’s open to absolutely anyone. America has some fantastic talent just waiting to be discovered, and I would like that talent to come to our show, including any dogs who can sing'.

Auditions for Season 11 of the programme began in November and will continue through the end of February with stops including Atlanta, Kansas City, Dallas, Orlando and Los Angeles.
