She was one of David Bowie's close friends, and even accepted his 2014 BRIT Award on his behalf.

So it's little surprise that Kate Moss has decided to honour her late friend at her up-coming birthday party - asking guests to 'channel their inner-Bowie' at her '80s themed bash.

The 41-year-old model is said to have been left 'devastated' following the musical icon's sudden death from cancer on Sunday, and wants to celebrate his life at her birthday party.

A friend of the fashion designer and world famous model told the Daily Mirror that the party will now be a tribute to the Ziggy Stardust singer and his extraordinary life.

'Kate was devastated to hear about David's death,' the source revealed. 'So guests will channel their inner-Bowie and 80s attire.'

Explaining Kate's request of her guests, the friend explained: 'She wants the party to be a celebration of his life as well as hers. It's going to be wild.'

But while the famous Vogue cover girl is keen to honour David, she is keen for the bash to be a fun-filled affair and has asked guests to 'come in the style of her pales in Absolutely Fabulous'.

MailOnline has contacted a representative for Kate, but has yet to receive any comment.

Stepping out in London, Kate proudly wore a white tee-shirt featuring a print of the rocker, which she teamed with a black fur jacket, leather jeans, metallic purple platforms and a black fedora. 

Kate's close-friendship with the singer was brought once more into the spotlight when she collected his Best Male Solo Artist gong at the 2014 Brit Awards.

Sashaying up to the podium to collect the gong, the model wore one of his famous Ziggy Stardust leotards -popularly known as his 'rabbit costume', which was designed by Kansai Yamamoto.

Bowie passed away on Sunday at his home in New York aged 69 following a secret 18-month battle with cancer.
