Ronda Rousey relaxes in LA after Octagon return is put back until after UFC 200

  • Ronda Rousey will not return to the UFC for their flagship card in July
  • Filming for her next movie Road House has been put back
  • Rousey was knocked out by Holly Holm last November, losing her title
  • Holm will defend her title against Miesha Tate in Las Vegas on March 5

With no prospect of a fight until the second half of the year, Ronda Rousey took the opportunity to relax ahead of her busy filming schedule.

The former UFC bantamweight champion, who lost her title to Holly Holm last November, will not return to the Octagon at UFC 200 on July 9 as anticipated.

The 28-year-old will instead focus on her burgeoning acting career having already starred in Entourage, Furious 7 and The Expendables 3.

Rousey was spotted out and about in Venice, Los Angeles with a friend, the day after UFC president Dana White revealed she would given more time off after filming for her next film Road House was pushed back.

'The way I look at this one is, Ronda has worked her ass off for us for the last three years,' White told Yahoo.

'She's been fighting, promoting and building the sport. If anyone deserves the time off, it's her.

'The night [of her victory] Holly said she'd do the rematch and that Ronda deserved it and everything else. So we were holding it for her if she wanted to do it.'

Earlier this week it was also revealed that Rousey's role in another film, Mile 22, has been reduced.

Having initially been cast in a lead role, she will now focus on action, rather than acting.

'It allows Ronda to do everything she can and should do without having to carry any undue acting weight,' studio chairman Adam Fogelson told the New Yorker.

With Rousey out of action, Holm will defend her title against Miesha Tate at UFC 197 on March 5 as the co-main event to Conor McGregor's challenge for the lightweight title against Rafael dos Anjos.

Tate has twice lost to Rousey, once in Strikeforce and most recently in the UFC.

Were she to surprise Holm in Las Vegas, a trilogy fight with Rousey would be inevitable but that would wreck the company's plans for a lucrative rematch between Holm and the deposed champion.
