Wake up and smell the roses! Victoria's Secret model Sara Sampaio enjoys five-star welcome as she jets into Melbourne for her first ever visit to Australia

Even for seasoned globetrotters, a long haul flight Down Under can be a difficult experience.

But after flying into Melbourne this week, Victoria's Secret model Sara Sampaio looked fresh-faced and ready to explore Australia for the first time.

The 24-year-old brunette shared a photo of herself with a bouquet of white roses on Thursday afternoon, shortly after setting down in the Victorian capital.

She posted the picture to her 2.8 million followers on Instagram, with the caption: 'Thank you @kookai_australia for the welcoming in Melbourne. Can't wait for this next few days. :)' 

Lingerie model Sara, from Porto in Portugal, wore natural look make up with sultry, black mascara that matched her dark hair.

The flowers were gifted by Australian-owned women's fashion label Kookaï, who Sara may be modelling for over the next couple of days. 

On Monday she teased her Twitter fans with news of her next mystery destination, which she later revealed to be the land Down Under.

She tweeted to her 436,000 followers: 'Can you guess where I'm flying tomorrow? It's been a dream of mine to go there for a while :))))))'.

Later that day she broke the news, and followed up on Wednesday: 'See you soon Melbourne! So excited to visit Australia for the first time' with several emojis of the country's flag.

Sara made her debut during a segment at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2013 after auditioning for several years.

The lingerie-clad beauty later appeared in two segments in the next year's runway show, before featuring prominently at the 2015 extravaganza held in New York City.

Sara was also the first ever Portuguese model to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue back in 2014. 

She later earned their title Rookie Of The Year, which was the result of a public vote.
