Lucky Ducky! Selma Blair takes her pampered pooch along while shopping with a male pal in West Hollywood

Her four-year-old son Arthur is certainly the apple in her eye but her recently adopted pooch Ducky follows at a close second in her affections.

Selma Blair was a doting doggie mom as she stepped out with Ducky and a male companion for some shopping fun in West Hollywood on Saturday.

The 43-year-old actress both walked and carried the small, fawn-coloured chihuahua mix down the sidewalk, but seemed to enjoy cradling him close the most.

Selma was all-adoring and at one point during their stroll she stopped to disentangle the dog's leg from the leash.

Ducky - whom Selma brought home in November last year from Best Friends Animal Society - was looking cosy as well in a green sweater.

Selma was dressed in an easy and breezy outfit that included faded jeans, a black loose blouse and a billowy blush-hued coat.

The brunette star - who will soon be seen playing Kris Jenner in the FX series American Crime Story: The People vs O.J. Simpson - finished off her look with a pair of scarlet loafers.

Selma, in fact, visited a shoe store to browse among the brightly coloured footwear and paused to share a snap with a fan on her Instagram page.

The actress had a whimsical tone as she captioned the snap: 'I am a #halstonette . @cameronsilver @halstonstyle coat. @billblassusa favorites. #ducky by @bestfriendsanimalsociety . Ok. We are covered.'

Selma, whose roles in Legally Blonde, Cruel Intensions and Hellboy helped to seal her acting status in Hollywood, is looking forward to people seeing her as the Keeping Up With The Kardashians momager Kris Jenner in American Crime Story next month.

Kris' ex-husband, the late lawyer Robert Kardashian, famously represented American football player O.J. Simpson after he was suspected of murdering his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman in 1994.

The 10-episode series will start airing Tuesday, February 2 on FX.

'I happen to love Kris Jenner,' Selma told Us Weekly. 'I found her to be endearing and extremely intelligent and warm and generous. I don’t have enough good things to say about her.'

Kris, meanwhile, gave Blair her nod of approval in May of last year when she told TMZ: 'I think Selma is great.'
