David Gest QUITS Celebrity Big Brother for medical reasons after growing increasingly unwell and absent on screen

David Gest has pulled out of Celebrity Big Brother for medical reasons.

Channel 5 producers confirmed on Monday morning that the 62-year-old will be seen leaving the house in episodes due to air the same evening.

The American television personality has spent a total of 13 days in the reality TV programme and will be the fourth person to leave in 2016, though only the second voluntarily.

Celebrity Big Brother representatives confirmed: 'David Gest has decided to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House. His exit will appear in tonight's show on Channel 5 at 9pm.'

A further statement on his Official Twitter profile read on his behalf: 'Sorry guys but @DavidGest2016 is a bit poorly just now! When he is all fixed we will let ya know xx'

Big Brother added: 'David wanted to let you all know that he loves you and that he 's sorry but that he was too sick to continue.'

To which all the Housemates shouting: 'Love you!'

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that David was being given special time to get better in a separate part of the house.

A CBB spokesperson said: 'David has been unwell and given time to rest and recuperate in Big Brother's spare bedroom within the house.'

Fans of the show will remember that David's bedbound state caused great confusion among the housemates last Monday, following the announcement that Angie Bowie's ex-husband had died.

Revealing the information to housemate Tiffany Pollard while David was resting in bed, Angie confused her friend by simply saying, 'David is dead' when referring to the late David Bowie.

There was a mixture of amusement and disappointment from viewers at the scenes, aired last week, that showed Tiffany panicking that David Gest has passed away while inside the CBB Diary Room.

This week, fans have been growing increasingly concerned that Gest had been absent from the daily update shows. 

Absence: His lack of screen time prompted one viewer to ask if David was still in the house this week

Removed: The TV personality took himself off to rest during a lot of the crucial moments

Worried: David has left some fans feeling particularly concerned for his wellfare

Poor David: One fan of the star wished him well so that he could become more of a character in the house

One Channel 5 fan asked: 'Is David gest still in big brother, I swear you only see a body under a quilt'

Another added: 'I swear David Gest has spend more time in Big Brothers spare bedroom than he has in the actual house. #CBB'

Pre-empting today's events, a further suggestion was made: 'Perhaps David Gest needs to leave the house if he's continuously unwell??? #healthfirst #CBB'

Pointing out his lack of appearances, one viewer suggested he'd brought nothing to this year's all-star line-up.

But expressing sympathy, another said: 'Poor David Gest...I reckon that house is bad for his health. Wish he would feel better so we can see more of him #CBB' 

His highlights have included the moment that David licked cream off houstmate Jeremy McConnell's tongue during a task that made for cringe-worthy television.

Jonathan Cheban was the first star to 'walk' in this series just last week, while Winston McKenzie and Nancy Dell'Olio have been evicted by public vote.

David previously featured in the sixth series of British reality TV show I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in 2006, though since he was unable to complete his time in CBB, it's unclear whether he will still be given a fee for his appearance.
