'I don't remember three years of it!' Matthew Perry admits he was 'a little out of it' during Friends as he reveals the cast would be open to reuniting for a TV special

He was part of the biggest TV show of the nineties, beloved by millions around the world.

But while devoted Friends fans may be able to quote the show verbatim, its star Matthew Perry has admitted he doesn't remember a whole three years of the series.

The actor, who has been open about his struggles with substance abuse in the past, told Chris Evans on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show on Friday that he was 'a little out of it' for the middle years of the show.

Matthew, 46, is in London for his new play The End Of Longing, which he has written and will star in.

Before another day of rehearsals on Friday he stopped by the BBC to chat to Chris about the production, and talk soon turned to his most famous role - as Chandler Bing on Friends.

Fellow celeb guest James Nesbitt was keen to know what Matthew's least favourite Friends episode was during its hit ten year run.

Matthew candidly admitted: 'I don't remember three years of it, so none of those' adding of his blackout: 'I was a little out of it at the time...Somewhere between seasons three and six.'

The actor openly discussed his longtime struggle with substance abuse in a video released on his 46th birthday last August.

'You can't have a drug problem for 30 years and then expect to have it be solved in 28 days,' Perry said at the start of the video by The Hollywood Reporter.

'I'm a pretty private person, but I was on a TV show that 30 million people were watching. So people knew. It was so public what was happening to me,' he added.

The actor entered a 28-day rehab program in 1997 for a Vicodin addiction and went into rehab again in 2001 to treat an addiction to alcohol and pills.

The fan favourite at his lowest ebb was drinking two pints of vodka a day and swallowing up to 30 tablets. He now works with recovering addicts, opening Perry House, a sober living home situated in his former mansion in Malibu in 2013.

His visit to Evans' show on Friday also saw the star questioned about a longed-for reunion with his Friends co-stars, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc.

The entire cast, except for Matthew who will be on stage in London and has a pre-taped segment, are reuniting on February 21 for the Must See TV: A Tribute to James Burrows.

But Matthew admits there's still a possibility the group will get together in the future for a reunion episode, telling Evans:

'I don't know what the price would but I think the actors would actually be open to it, I do. I think we would be open to doing something, some kind of TV special. I don't know about a movie.'

'It's kind of tough because we've ended on such a high note that we don't want to ruin it, so we'd want to be really careful. Sometimes when you do a reunion it's terrible, and it sort of ruins the memory of the good show that you've done before,' he pointed out.

'We've talked about it a little bit over dinner, we like to get together for dinner and we have a good time together.'

'It's a really good group, there isn't a jerk in the group and that really saved us for ten years.'
