Very interesting text book! This book doesn't provide the information in an overcomplicated or boring manner, but instead cuts right to the interesting facts and ideas about gender studies.

Reading this text book will provide you with bountiful insight as to why men and women do the things they do, and how there is no singular, definitive answer to that question.

One part that I appreciate about the text book is the inclusion of quotes from sources (usually young adults) outside of the author which described their own personal experiences and understandings of the theories of gender studies.

This was the required text for a gender comm. class, but I felt it was accessible, interesting to read, and overall enlightening. This is a good read for anyone wanting to explore the gendered experience.

It talks about gender differences and inequalities. In my own opinion it has a feminist point of view. If you enjoy reading about how women are put down then great choice. I needed it for a course.

Pretty good - but it is a little convoluted in places - It could have used some better examples and details to explian theories as well.

I dislike the general tone of this book. A lot of the information seems very skewed towards women's problems, and while that's important when considering gender studies it definitely lacks on development of themes regarding men. The focus is primarily women, followed by sexual identity, gender identity, and then men. It seems very unbalanced but the points made in the various chapters thus far are goods ones. Works well for the class I bought it for, I guess.
