Fifth Third Bank Stadium, the signature athletics landmark on the Kennesaw State University campus, is world-class, 8,300 seat facility that was completed in the spring of 2010 and has garnered national recognition as one of the premier multi-use outdoor athletics facilities in the country.

Since its official opening on May 2, 2010, Fifth Third Bank Stadium has been home to the Atlanta Beat of Women’s Professional Soccer league, and Kennesaw State women’s soccer and lacrosse. In the fall of 2015, it will become the official home of Owls football as the program will open its inaugural season.

Originally opened as KSU Stadium, the Atlanta Beat played the first-ever athletics event in the venue against the Sky Blue FC on May 9, 2010. The Beat went on to set the all-time stadium attendance record of 9,345 against the Boca Raton Magic Jack on July 23, 2011.

The Kennesaw State soccer team made its stadium debut on August 14, 2010 when it hosted Jacksonville State in an exhibition. The Owls, who have a 12-12-4 (.500) all-time record in three seasons, set Kennesaw State attendance of 2,683 against Georgia State on August 23, 2012.

History was made once more on Mar. 2, 2013 when the Kennesaw State lacrosse team hosted Coastal Carolina in its first-ever home game on a 37-degree day at Fifth Third Bank Stadium. The Owls went 1-2 in their debut season.

In 2012, NCAA.com labeled Fifth Third Bank Stadium a top-five must-see facility in an article highlighting the country’s top collegiate athletics facility. The stadium was part of a list that included the Yale Bowl (Yale), NU Coliseum (Nebraska), Beaver Stadium (Penn State) and Alex G. Spanos Stadium (Cal Poly).

The stadium, located on a 21-acre parcel of land, lies between George Busbee Parkway and the I-575 overpass on Big Shanty Road. It is home to the Kennesaw State soccer and lacrosse programs.

The bowl-shaped stadium features a prominent stage deck located on the north end is the central feature of the Sports and Recreation Park completed in April 2012. The park also features seven competition fields, a practice facility, NCAA regulation track and sand volleyball courts, a nine-acre lake and one-mile walking trail in addition to ample green space for general recreation. In addition to KSU Athletics, the Park supports KSU events, intramurals, club sports and student programs as well as community events including concerts, tournaments, festivals and sporting events.

In 2010, Fifth Third Bank Stadium welcomed a total of seven national teams, including the United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) on Saturday, Sept. 2 for an international friendly against China, the full men’s national teams from Guatemala and Guyana for a FIFA play date on Wednesday, Nov. 17, and U-20 men’s national teams from Colombia, Mexico, and the U.S. during Torneo de las Americas, a three-day three team international tournament from Nov. 26-28, 2010.

In 2011, Fifth third Bank Stadium hosted NCAA Women’s College Cup, the Division I Final Four soccer tournament Dec. 2-4.
