Idris Elba cuts a cool figure in tailored trousers and a smart mac coat as he flashes two peace signs on arrival to his DJ gig

His talent as an actor is undeniable with many accolades to prove it.

But Idris Elba sent his following into a different kind of spin as he showcased his DJ skills at a gig which was held at a swanky members' club in London on Friday night.

The Luther star cut a cool figure as he picked out a pair of black tailored trousers, a crisp white shirt and a blue skinny tie for his set at 1863 which sits inside the The Arts Club, located in the Mayfair district of the capital.

Idris, 43, looked strapping as he made a confident entrance into the upmarket bar, with a smart mac coat thrown over his perfectly-put-together outfit.

He appeared excited ahead of the evening's antics and showed his playful side by flashing the cameras two peace signs.

Any nerves he potentially had faded as soon as he hit the decks where he appeared to have the crowd in the palm of his hand.

Despite being less experienced on the podium than he is in front of a camera crew, Idris confidently held his own as he entertained party-goers - which included Pixie Lott and her boyfriend Oliver Cheshire - with his creative mixes.

Idris - who was previously known as DJ Big Driis within the clubbing circuit - first turned his hand to mixing music in 1986 when he helped his uncle with his wedding business.

He seemed to pick it up quickly as he had started his own DJ company within a year of his first experience.

While Idris is yet to earn any awards for his DJ'ing talents, he's played his fair share of impressive gigs which include opening Madonna's Rebel Heart show in Berlin, Germany, in November.

He also discovered how it felt to be a performer at the UK's best-loved festival - Glastonbury - last summer.

In addition to his Golden Globe accolade for his part as Detective John Luther in the popular BBC crime drama, he was named in the Queen's New Year's Honours list this year.

He was awarded an OBE for his services to drama.
