The incident happened in an apartment on 45th Street in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

The suspect, Maciej, lived just a short distance away.

Andrzej Golabek, Zdzislaw's brother, told the New York Post that he heard about the fatal accident through his brother's wife, Bozena.

'My feeling was like, I can't believe it,' said Golabek, 37, who lives in Kensington, Brooklyn. 'I still can't believe it.

'He was really quiet,' he added. 'He never got into trouble.'

Maciej has now been arrested and charged with manslaughter according to the NYPD. He has also been brought up on a charge of criminal possession of a weapon.

The game of Russian roulette works by placing a single bullet in a random chamber out of six, before daring to hold the loaded gun to one’s temple before pulling on the trigger.

The gamble comes with the player hoping they will not trigger the loaded chamber, with a one in six chance of instant death.
