Former X Factor winner Joe McElderry showcases his hunky new physique in stripy T-shirt... as he admits he'd love to front his own fitness DVD

He was upset when an unflattering photograph of himself emerged online last week.

But Joe McElderry looked buffer than ever as he left London's Cadogan Hall after the final performance of Sweet Charity on Saturday night, showing off his muscular physique in a Breton top.

The former X Factor winner proved he's in the best shape of his life as he watched Denise Van Outen and Kimberley Walsh take to the stage in the uplifting musical, just after revealing that he'd like to star in his own fitness DVD.

Joe flashed a cheeky grin as he left the theatre in a tight T-shirt and slim-fit jeans, cinched in at the waist with a leather belt.

The 24-year-old singer defiantly displayed his new beefcake body, the product of hitting the gym six times a week for the past eight months.

Joe, who beat Olly Murs to victory in Simon Cowell's singing contest back in 2009, excitedly greeted his friend Kerry Ellis and congratulated her on her performance by wrapping her up in a big hug.

He was no doubt picking up some tips from the musical since he is shortly set to star in new rock opera Tommy alongside Blue's Antony Costa.

The singer is visibly in great shape after training hard with former Miss Universe finalist Caroline Dixon and following a strict diet.

'Most of the stuff we do is killer, but in a weird way I really enjoy it', he told The Sun's Natalie Edwards.

And his toned new shape hasn't gone unnoticed since he's already been flooded with offers from eight different weight-loss brands to front their upcoming campaigns.

However, Joe says he would much rather make his own fitness DVD because he enjoys being active and healthy.

'I’m a really active person and I’ve done lots of charity bike rides', he explained to the paper. 'It’s a massive part of my life and I think it’s a necessary part of my life for stamina when I’m on stage.'
